Secure Remote Access to Hosted SQL Server and MySQL Databases

When it comes to developing Web applications with SQL Server Databases, connecting with SQL Management Studio and Visual Studio provides ultimate flexibility. While some hosting companies allow direct connections to their database Servers, there are many security issues associated with opening direct connections.

ANC offers a unique solution by providing a VPN client (SecureLink) that establishes a secure (TLS/SSL) link between your local PC and the database Server. Once you download and install SecureLink, you will be able to connect to hosted databases as if they are on your local machine.

Download SecureLink:
SecureLinkSetup.exe (155KB)

Connecting with SQL Server Management Studio

When you run SecureLink for the first time, it will ask for your Hosting Control Panel user name and password. Once you log in, it will establish local proxy for SQL Server and MySQL Server. It also creates a local SQL Server Alias 'SQL2k5' which you can use to establish a connection with SQL Management Studio and Visual Studio.

MySQL Administrator

You can connect to MySQL Server by using the port number provided by SecureLink and a user name and password for any valid MySQL Database on the Server.

SecureLink client must be running on your PC while you connect to the database server.

SecureLink provides two step authentication over TLS/SSL link between your PC and the Database Server.

It is now possible to run your Web application on the local development machine while they are using the Database on the Server.

SecureLink requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 pre-installed. Most computers already have the framework. If you need assistance using SecureLink, please submit a support ticket.
